Client: Roofing Contractor
Location: Basingstoke
Project Date: January 2026
Sector: Church / Heritage Building
Scaffolding Type: Fully Boarded Access Scaffold
Project Overview
In January 2026, we were appointed by a roofing contractor to supply and install a fully boarded access scaffold for a church in Basingstoke. The project focused on providing safe, secure access for ongoing roof repair works while maintaining public safety around the building.
Church buildings often present unique access challenges due to their structure, surrounding foot traffic, and community use. Our role was to ensure that both the roofing team and the public were protected throughout the duration of the works.
Scope of Works
We designed and erected a fully boarded access scaffold to allow safe and stable working conditions for the roofing team carrying out repairs.
The scaffold was configured to:
- Provide full access to roof areas
- Support safe movement for operatives and materials
- Maintain structural stability around a sensitive building
In addition to the access scaffold, we implemented protective measures to control the surrounding area and minimise risk to the public.
Challenges & Solutions
Challenge: Managing Public Safety Around an Active Church
As the church remained in a publicly accessible area, one of the key challenges was preventing unauthorised access to the working zone while maintaining a professional and unobtrusive setup.
Solution: Custom Hoarding Installation
To address this, we created a secure hoarding system using scaffold boards around the perimeter of the working area. This effectively:
- Restricted public access to hazardous zones
- Created a clear boundary between the worksite and public space
- Enhanced overall site safety and compliance
This approach ensured that the roofing works could proceed without interruption while protecting passers-by and maintaining a tidy site appearance.
Project Delivery
The entire scaffold structure, including the access system and hoarding, was erected efficiently within one day. Careful planning and coordination with the client allowed us to complete the installation quickly without compromising on safety or quality.
Outcome
The completed scaffold provided a safe and reliable working platform for roof repairs while successfully controlling public access around the church. The project was delivered on time, with all safety considerations addressed from the outset.
