At White’s Scaffolding, safety, reliability and professional standards sit at the core of everything we do. Our clients trust us to deliver secure, compliant scaffolding across Wiltshire, Hampshire and Dorset, and our industry memberships and accreditations provide independent evidence of the standards we maintain.

Our credentials include Scaffolding Association Assessed Membership, Constructionline Gold, CHAS (Contractors Health & Safety Assessment Scheme) and recognised health and safety assessment through SSIP.  Each serves a different purpose, from scaffolding-specific technical standards to health and safety management and construction supply-chain prequalification.

Scaffolding Association Assessed Member

White’s Scaffolding is also an Assessed Member of the Scaffolding Association.

Assessed Membership is specifically intended for scaffolding businesses that already hold a current Safety Schemes in Procurement (SSIP) certificate. Applicants must also provide relevant insurance information, client references and agree to the Association’s Code of Conduct.

This is relevant to clients because it provides further industry-specific evidence that the company has demonstrated appropriate health and safety arrangements, commercial insurance and experience within the scaffolding sector.

Constructionline Gold Member

Our Constructionline Gold membership provides additional assurance for principal contractors, developers, public-sector organisations and other clients that use formal supply-chain procurement processes.

Constructionline Gold verification covers a broad range of business and compliance information. This includes areas such as company identity, insurance, professional standing, health and safety, environmental management, quality management, information management and building safety.

Gold membership corresponds with the desktop level of the Common Assessment Standard, an industry-agreed prequalification framework used by construction buyers.

For clients, this can simplify the process of verifying White’s Scaffolding before appointment and demonstrates that important areas of business compliance have already been independently checked.

SSIP Health & Safety Assessment

Safety Schemes in Procurement, commonly known as SSIP, provides a recognised framework for assessing occupational health and safety management within the construction supply chain.

Holding SSIP certification means that a contractor’s health and safety management arrangements have been assessed against the SSIP Core Criteria.

For clients and principal contractors, this provides reassurance that important areas of health and safety management have already undergone independent assessment. It can also reduce duplication during contractor prequalification because SSIP schemes operate on a system of mutual recognition.

Once For All Health & Safety SSIP – Formerly Acclaim Accreditation

Our health and safety credentials have also been independently assessed through the scheme previously known as Acclaim Accreditation, now called Once For All Health & Safety SSIP.

The assessment examines a company’s health and safety documentation and working arrangements against recognised SSIP requirements. This can include areas such as health and safety policies, risk management, competence, training and the systems used to manage work safely.

For clients, the accreditation provides independent verification of our health and safety management arrangements rather than relying solely on our own statements about compliance.

Working towards NASC Contractor Member Status

White’s Scaffolding is working towards becoming a member of the National Access & Scaffolding Confederation (NASC), the UK trade body dedicated specifically to the scaffolding and access industry.

NASC membership is particularly relevant when selecting a scaffolding contractor because members must meet the organisation’s membership criteria and continue to demonstrate compliance rather than simply completing a one-off application. Contractor members are subject to ongoing independent compliance checks, including desktop assessments and periodic site audits.

Membership also requires contractors to follow NASC rules, its Membership Charter and applicable technical and safety guidance. This includes recognised scaffolding guidance covering subjects such as scaffold configuration, work at height, erection procedures and safe working practices.

For our clients, NASC membership will provide an additional level of assurance that White’s Scaffolding is operating within a recognised scaffolding-specific framework and is subject to continuing external scrutiny.  We look forward to announcing updates on our progress in seeking this accreditation.

What Our Accreditations Mean for Our Clients

Together, these memberships and accreditations cover several different aspects of operating a professional scaffolding company.

The Scaffolding Association provide scaffolding-industry oversight, while Constructionline supports broader contractor prequalification and supply-chain compliance. SSIP and Once For All Health & Safety provide independent assessment of occupational health and safety arrangements.

They are particularly relevant when White’s Scaffolding is working for principal contractors, local authorities, commercial organisations, facilities managers and other clients that need to demonstrate that competent contractors have been selected.

Our team stays up to date with relevant industry guidance, installation standards and working-at-height requirements. From residential scaffolding and heritage restoration to larger commercial and specialist projects, our procedures are intended to protect the workforce, the structure, clients and members of the public.

White’s Scaffolding is fully insured, and our operatives are trained to carry out scaffolding work safely and competently. We work in accordance with the Work at Height Regulations and relevant scaffolding guidance, with scaffold structures incorporating appropriate bracing, ties, guard rails, working platforms and access arrangements according to the requirements of the installation.

Scaffolds are also subject to the appropriate inspection requirements throughout their use.

We work closely with site managers, contractors, builders and commercial clients so that the scaffold forms part of the wider site safety arrangements. Whether a project involves roofing, repairs, conservation work, extensions, temporary roofs, commercial construction or specialist access, the scaffold is planned around both the work being undertaken and the conditions of the site.
